        Dr. Abdullah Shiham Hassan is a highly qualified, multi-disciplined professional; he served the country as a diploma and he is widely known in Maldives as an Islamic Dhaaee, a lecture, a lawyer and a business executive.

        Dr. Shiham is an unparalleled expert on Islamic Banking in the Maldives and served as the Advisor to Central Bank on introducing Islamic Banking to Maldives. He is a Director of Amana Takaful Maldives, the only Sharia complaint insurance company in the Maldives and is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bank of Maldives PLC.

        Dr. Shiham is a Senior Lecturer of Maldives National University’s Faculty of Shari’ah and Law and a founding member of the Figh Academy of Maldives. In 2009 he established Institute of Islamic Finance Maldives (I.I.F.M) and serves as the Managing Director.

        Dr. Shiham graduated from the University of Tasmania, Australia with a Bachelor of Laws in 1997. After graduation he served the Government of Maldives before enrolling at International Islamic University, Malaysia to read for Master of Comparative Law. He obtained his Master of Comparative Laws degree specialising in Islamic Insurance (Takaful) and completed his Doctor of Philosophy at International Islamic University, Malaysia, specialising in Islamic Banking Regulation and Supervision.

Amer Bukvic,CEO of Bosna Bank International (BBI) received his bachelor’s degree from the International Islamic University (IIUM) in Kuala Lumpur and his Master’s degree from the International University of Japan where he was the recipient of the “Monbusho Scholar Award”. In addition, he completed Executive Education Program at Islamic Development Bank Group (IDBG) and Management Development Program at the Center for Management Development of London Business School.

        He began his career working for the IDB Group where he got exposure in trade financing operations, project finance operations and investment insurance in 57 member countries of the IDB Group. Prior to taking position with Bosna Bank International, first as Deputy Director General in 2004 and subsequently as the CEO in 2006, Mr. Bukvic was teaching Economics and business management at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS).

        During the tenure as CEO, BBI solidified its market position in all segments of business , positioned itself among the ten best performing banks in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and has been awarded “Super Brand” award for the best image among financial institutions. He co-founded the Sarajevo Business Forum (SBF) (described by the Turkish Prime Minister R.T. Erdogan as the ‘Balkan Davos’) which has been arguably the largest International investment conference to be held in southeast Europe in recent times.

        Mr. Bukvic was presented with the prestigious ‘Person of the Year’ award in 2010 by the Daily Newspaper ‘San’ in Bosnia and Herzegovina for his contribution to economic development while Independent Accreditation Agency declared him as ‘Best manager’ in B & H and Southeast Europe conferring him the award for achieving significant business success, profitability, innovativeness and the best management practices in banking industry. Bukvic was also awarded the ‘Medallion of the City of Sarajevo’ in 2011 for his contribution to raising international profile and development of the City and in 2012 the Charter of International League of Humanists- the highest recognition “Aurelio Peccei” for humane and ethical human resources management, contribution to creation of new jobs, prosperity and attraction of foreign direct investments in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Prof. Dr Ahamed Kameel is a well known and highly respected expert in the area of Islamic economics and finance. He is currently the Dean of the Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM)

 He holds a PhD degree in Finance from University of North Texas, Denton, Texas U.S.A. Upon receiving his PhD in 1996, he returned to IIUM, where he obtained his undergraduate and Masters degrees, and subsequently served I various positions, including Dean of Centre for Postgraduate Studies, Head for Department of Business Administration and Department of Finance.

Throughout his career, he has significantly contributed ideas and knowledge through papers, books and conferences. His work has garnered numerous international and national acknowledgement. This includes the 2003 Outstanding Paper Award for by the International Journal of Business and Economics, and more recently, the 2010 Highly Commended Award for by Emerald Literati Network.

His areas of interest and expertise include Money & Banking, Islamic Banking and Finance, International Finance, Finance Markets, Investment Analysis, Macro-Economics, Economics of Social Issues and Quantitative Methods.
